In 2004, Christopher Boyko reappraised the Oligocene molecrab, Paralbunea galantensis, of Northern Italy. Boyko noted that the carapace anatomy was more similar to the molecrabs of the genus Zygopa than of Paralbunea. As such, he split P. galatensis from Paralbunea, placing it in a new genus, Harryhausenia, in honor of movie-magic sorcerer, Ray Harryhausen.
